OMG!!!!!!!!!!

Wait until you see what I found!
I found a very vintage white enamel produce scale in near perfect condition for "WAIT FOR IT"  $10.00
Yes, ten dollars. I also purchased a beautiful silver had mirror with roses and a beautiful woman on the back.  I almost forgot to mention the utility cart and the iron table with 4 chairs (rose pattern).
A couple of days ago I found a silver ice bucket with a white glass liner. I will take pictures soon, can't wait for you to see.

God bless,
Bren

fun new stuff!!

Isn't this silverware beautiful!! I collect all rose patterned silverware.

Also found this white coffee mug and the locker basket.

These are the newest addition to our family. Tohbi is a white schnauzer (5mo.) and Buttins is a schnoodle (2mo.). Aren't they sweet.

I follow several blogs and there are so many outstanding, creative, inspiring and beautiful women out there. Thank you to each and every one of you for keeping me going!

I just found this awesome desk at our junk guys yard. It needs a little TLC but it will be ready to use for home school soon.
I'm not sure you can see the detail in the frames on the desk. I've had the frames lying around for awhile, I also had a broken mirror.  So I married them. I'm not going to leave them on the desk but they do look good together.

Please don't look to close at the floor we are in the process of deciding what to put down. This may sound easy but we have been deciding for 2.5 years.

Steven and I went out hunting today and found fun stuff, more Buffalo china, a locker basket and silverware with a rose pattern. I'll take pictures and post soon. The chippy white siding is looking good and I will post an updated picture soon.

In love and friendship, have a blessed weekend

How many projects can you have at one time?

This is my new kitchen cabinet. I paid $2.00, who says there are no more good deals out there? It took a lot of scrubbing but I think it fits in perfectly!!

Here are two different views of our deck that we are screening in. It is another project in the works. Let me know if you have any ideas for a light weight outdoor ceiling.

Can you believe that I found these in a pile of trash! Steve helped me put them into our Suburban, against his better judgement and now they are laying on our deck waiting to have a purpose in life. There are 3 of them, any ideas?

Thank you to everyone that has viewed my blog. Thanks for showing interest in the many projects that I am working. God bless you

We should have been working!

White and Rusty, I couldn't resist this scale. Take a look at these S&P, they are huge!!

I love this color, I bet this photo doesn't do it justice.  I think it's "Tiffany" blue?
I cannot wait to get it in a paint sample.

We have 2 of these architectural pieces. We added them at the ceiling where the house comes together in the middle. It needs a little refinement (like everything else) but
I think we are moving in the right direction.

Controlling the clutter. I'm using a oxidised canning basket, i love that
it doesn't use a lot of visual space.

Steve and I have been goofing off the last couple of days. We should have been finishing the moulding and figuring out just what we are going to do about counter tops. I want to have really dark wood. Finding the right product isn't so easy. Who is going to Round Top?
Pray for me, I just might make it this year!?!?!?!?!

Thanks everyone that left either encouragement or advice on my interview at Good Stella, LOVE YOU

God bless,

new projects

This is an old headboard that I cut the legs off of. I added mirror and hooks and now I have a place to hang coats in the mud room.

I purchased this purse in ND. Isn't it sweet!!

Can you see the spot in the middle if the mirror? The original silver has peeled away like a bullet hole. I love it, such character. The white coat tree is from my Dad's shop in ND.

Thank you to everyone that has looked at our blog, I touches my heart.

Did I tell you?!
When Steven and I were out doing chores this past weekend I came upon a goldmine. A pile, piles of Buffalo china all white. Each piece was 5 CENTS. I bought 35 cereal bowls and I stopped counting after that. WOW!

God bless,

Mentorship update

I have finally completed the interview questions from Carol at Raised in Cotton. She is amazing!! She sent an email telling me about herself and it truly touched my heart. I am so excited to get started, pray for me.

gifts

This beautiful cabinet was a gift from a friend. I am going to paint it white and add some type of architectural bracket so it doesn't look like it is just floating in space. The formica counter top is on it's way out and I am going to either use metal or wood. The black walnut wasn't available after all.

Fun Finds

I was so excited when I saw this hobnail pot. I'm not sure if it's vintage or new but it fits in perfectly at home with my Ironstone.
These are buffalo china. I have never seen this pattern have you? These are salad size plates I would love to find more.
I think these were for serving pie?! I just loved them for the tarnished color and of course the roses.

Thanks,
Bren

Great news

I was selected for the mentorship with Carol from Raised in Cotton!!!!
I am beside myself with excitement. I'll keep you posted.
If you visit her blog she has the details.

My husband always complained he couldn't find the salt. I now have a collection of beautiful shakers.

These shakers are only pretty on the outside. I love them so

May God be in everything you do today.

Fun stuff!!

Here is the lamp I was going to put in my office. I changed my mind. I put it in the living room and  just added this awesome shade frame.

Love this footed silver tray, now filled with vintage stamps that happen to spell out my sons name.

Can you see the the black glass knobs I added as feet to my white grate. I used those florette's from a vintage mirror as the washers.

The grate holds all the beautiful salt shakers we have on the harvest table.

I feels good to be creative. My Dad would have liked the grate.
Steve and I have been working on the wainscoting. I hope to have pictures of the progress soon.

Progress

Here we go. The first wall being covered in "VINTAGE" siding.

As you can see I am undecided on wall color!!

Here it is with the furniture back in place.

Please let me know what you think!!

Thanks,
Bren

Isn't this moth incredible! It flew in the house and we had to get a picture.

God is amazing!!!

From caios to hopefully order

Try as I might I couldn't fit everything in. You can see the back of the Hoosier,
it is going to the lake house.

This is our harvest table covered with Ironstone and Buffalo china. We needed to remove a wall and move the fridge to get the hutch below into the kitchen.
I am making room for my grandmothers buffet.

Here is the hutch we will be moving.

It's totally crazy in our house right now. I am incapable of doing one project at a time apparently. Hubby and I (mostly him) are removing walls, installing wainscoting and adding furniture.

More pictures soon!

Speaking of the lake house!!

Last year we started this project.
It's a work in progress. We bought a 1960 single wide in all it's original glory. We removed the closets, all of the cabinets and the flooring. Then I painted the paneled walls white. We used repro moulding and trim around new doors and windows. We removed the hollow core doors and replaced them with chippy white solid wood doors, of course we used vintage glass knobs. In the powder room we used a vintage vanity with original mirror and put sink into it, BEAUTIFUL.

This is a picture of a little white cabinet I found on the curb.

Can you get a glimpse of the floor here? We layed plywood over the sub floor and stained it dark walnut with a satin varnish. It turned out better than we could have ever expected.

Can you see that the cabinets on the upper left don't match the others? This is what happens when you are on a budget! We bought damaged pieces and will bring it all together with a coat of gloss white paint. I used vintage glass door knobs for the lower doors and small glass knobs for the drawers and the upper cabinets.

We are bringing in a Hoosier and have changed out the blue table you can see on the left. I have lots of plans for our little house. Can't wait to share what we do next!!!

We've been busy

This is my new Ashley furniture. Hope you like it, we love it. It comes with a funny story. We had a small brown sectional which I decided would look much better at our lake house. Hubby and I took ol' brown to the lake with the intentions of switching it for the couch at the lake.Ol' brown fit just fine but the "new" couch wouldn't go thru the door at home. Lucky me  NEW FURNITURE!!!

P.S.   We had to burn the couch from the lake.

The most awesome find

No pictures yet but I will catch up to my postings as soon as I figure out my new camera.
Today Steven sent me over to a big pile of wood that at first glace was just that. Then at closer examination I discovered the WHITE and CHIPPY siding of an old house! We are going to use it for wainscoting in our living room, dining room and kitchen. I can't wait to show you. Another new project in the works are Black Walnut counter tops. Hopefully within the next couple of weeks.  Can't wait to show you pictures.

hello

I sure have missed posting. I am trying to get back into the swing of life. My Dad passed away 2 days after I arrived to help him recover from surgery. I miss talking to him, I miss a lot of things about him. Look for new pictures and new projects.

Prayer

So sorry I haven't been blogging. I just found out the my Dad has lung cancer. This is the 3rd type of cancer he's had in as many years. Please pray God's will be done! That we would all be obedient and draw closer to Him.

Thank you,
Bren

House of worship

Isn't this amazing! My heart skipped a beat when I saw it. We asked a local antique shop if it was for sale and to our dismay it had been sold 6mo. before to be turned into a Mexican restaurant. I can see myself slowly restoring her while we live in the midst of all the construction, bringing her back to her original glory.

A little hard work

Not the prettiest pictures but this is my latest project. It will go up at the lake house, note the No. 37!
Pictures of the lake remodel will show it off much better.

Friday, January 28, 2011

Isn't this color awesome!! I found a paint color "Surf green" that goes with it just perfectly. I saw it at an incredible shop "Sunny Paige" in Whitesboro, TX. If you get the chance you should definitely stop in.
I am using this in the kids room at the lake.

Our house No. at the lake is 37, which sparks a new collection!!!!!!

Steve and I had a great day collecting. Once everything is clean an presentable I will post pictures.
Praying that each of you is blessed in your walk with the Lord.

God bless

new projects

Aren't they beautiful! I love Buffalo China

I just couldn't resist this blue Sparklett's bottle. I am going to take it to the lake house. Once summer is here I will post pictures of our remodeling of the 1960's place we bought.

I bought this light for my office. I am still looking for the perfect shade. It might look new but the cord tells a different story. My office is a complete disaster!!! When I find time to dig it out I'll post pictures. Steve made me a black desk/table from an old black chippy base and I have all my rose prints on the walls.

See the tall mirror, we found this beauty and I don't know where it will finally end up but the silver patina is to die for not to mention the curve and the height.

Here is our 5 year old NEW fireplace we have in our master bedroom. Can you see the mirror on top. I think I have a problem saying no to mirrors. Steve wonders why I buy them considering you cannot see a clear reflection of yourself  in any one of them. I say I love the patina and he just sighs.

New idea. I love the old school house lights but can't afford them. Here is the start of my version. This is a really rough example but when it's done and up I will re post a before and after together.
